Majors
The College of Animation, Art, and Design (Sheridan’s secondary college) offers three concentrations: Digital Media Communications, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts and Design. Sheridan’s renowned animation department is part of the Visual Arts and Design concentration. The Visual Arts and Design program offers the following programs (2005-2006): Animation (4-year, Bachelor of Applied Arts), Art and Art History (4-year, Bachelor of Fine Arts), Illustration (4-year, Bachelor of Applied Arts), Design (4-year, Honours Bachelor, offered in partnership with York University), Applied Photography (2-year, Ontario College Credentials), Art Foundation (1-year, Ontario College Credentials), Industrial Design (4-year, Ontario College Credentials), and Interior Design (3-year, Ontario College Credentials). In addition, the Computer Animation program (1-year, Ontario College Credentials) requires a Qualification and relevant Credentials (for applicants with previous college or university education). The Animation Department enrolls 90-150 students annually, divided into 6-8 classes. Many students graduating from Sheridan’s animation major will choose to take another year of computer animation, because the content of the animation major is mostly about traditional animation and basic computer animation.
